Accessed from Reykjavik, Iceland, this tour of Greenland starts in beautiful South Greenland. Here you find remains and history of the Vikings and colourful wooden houses surrounded by deep blue fjords where calving glaciers produce icebergs in all shapes and colours. Nuuk, the capital of Greenland with its blend of modern and traditional lifestyle. Tour ends in Ilulissat - the town of the Icebergs with the breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage Site; Ilulissat Ice Fiord before returning to Iceland.
South Greenland highlights historic sites from the Viking Age, the Inland Ice Cap, fertile mountains with sheep farms, deep blue fiords with multi-coloured icebergs, calving glaciers - and everything within short range from your hotel.
The Greenland Capital, Nuuk is a modern town in the Arctic, the centre of Greenland administration and the site of the famous Greenland National Museum.
Ilulissat is the town of the Icebergs and the most modern town in the Disko Bay area – still, man is outnumbered by huskies and traces of 4000 years old Inuit settlements are still to be found. Furthermore small and isolated settlements where the local population is still depending upon hunting and fishing are to be found close to the town - not to forget the UNESCO designated Ilulissat Ice Fjord and its gigantic icebergs.
