Carly Boklaschuk

Who is Carly:
I spent my 20’s working as a flight attendant where my love for anything and everything travel related developed into a never ending bucket list.  I worked as a part time Travel Counsellor for The Travel Hut/Continental Travel whenever I wasn’t flying the friendly skies from 2009-2011.  Then I came back full time in June of 2016 when I decided it was time to hang up my wings.  My hobbies include spending time with my husband Derek and our bulldog Georgie, travelling, golfing, skiing and, of course, sharing lots of laughs over red wine with friends & family!

What are Carly’s TOP 5 travel experiences:

  • Self-drive up the East Coast of Australia
  • Shark Cage Diving in Gansbaai, South Africa and a safari in Kruger National Park
  • Southeast Asia beach-bumming around the islands of Thailand and sailing in Halong Bay, Vietnam
  • Searching for the perfect Malbec and steak in Argentina and Chile
  • My destination wedding in St. John’s, Newfoundland

What is Carly’s closing comment?
I love the fun & thrill of adventure travel & cannot wait to keep checking off more destinations! “Once the travel bug bites there is no known antidote, and I know that I shall be happily infected until the end of my life.”

Top 10 Tips for Keeping Valuables Safe When Travelling

When you travel do you take lots of jewellery and other valuables with you?  How do you keep your valuables safe when you’re travelling?  Every hotel tells you to not leave valuables in plain sight in your room and to use the room safe.  But what if the safe isn’t safe?  You can always use the hotel’s safe, which is usually secured inside an office behind the front desk.  Ensure you get a receipt for the items you deposited.  Most hotels are liable for items that go missing from their safe, but not for items in a room safe.
