It was with a great deal of sadness and nostalgia that I hung up my trusty life preserver and kicked off my sturdy rubber boots for the last time. We had reached Reykjavik and my two Adventure Canada expeditions on The Ocean Endeavour had come to an end. And what expeditions they were !!! Read More >

Many thanks to Great Canadian Travel for helping us have a wonderful trip to Nunavut. The locations we went to were truly breathtaking, and everything such as air travel and hotels ran as smoothly as it could have. We didn’t encounter any issues on our trip and Inukpak outfitters in Iqaluit was a very good choice for us. The people at the parks office in Pangnirtung were very helpful when it came to finding information about park entry, what outfitters to talk to about excursions, and what local hikes to do in the area. We woke up at 11pm on our 6th day of trekking and slipped out of our sleeping bags fully clothed with our cold weather layers, ready for the -12 degrees that was awaiting us outside our tents. We sipped on hot water, clutching the cups to warm our hands and nibbled on biscuits. Read More >

Todd and I had a great day on the Tundra viewing the Polar Bears on Nov 4/17!
Heartland was very timely and Don was an entertaining host. The whole day was long but ran very smoothly. I always felt safe and knew what the plan was. Our Tundra Buggy driver Kevin (sorry don’t remember his last name) was a great wealth of information and encouraged us to ask questions. He was obviously passionate about his work and the well being of the Polar Bears.
Thanks for an unforgettable day!

This trip was amazing. When Bob started dreaming about Norway, I don’t think he thought we could see so many amazing things. We both saw more than we ever dreamed of. Thank you for helping us to plan this dream.
First, we figured out that the price of everything is very high, especially alcohol. Do not buy alcohol there, it is way too expensive. I am glad we brought extra money to spend, we were able to do so many excursions. Read More >

TRIP
After several months of waiting, time finally came for a September trip to Iceland. Off we went for our drive around the Ring Road. Shauna Cook set up a complete itinerary for the trip based on the 14 day Great Canadian Travel Company tour with modifications to include an excursion to the West Fjords. It was a great trip. Nice accommodations, interesting driving, with so many sights and places to see. We loved it and brought many great memories back to our homes in the desert of southern Utah. Read More >

Cycling Morocco
A friend and I wanted to go on a cycling trip and were thinking about Morocco. We went to Great Canadian Travel and they helped us select and book a suitable cycling trip with Exodus Travel. We joined a dozen others, mainly English and a couple of New Zealanders. We had both English and Moroccan cycling guides, along with a support van and a four-wheel drive jeep to support us on tough terrain and change flats or perform bike repairs on the spot.

One fine morning in October 2016, somewhere in the world, a person wakes up with the conviction that she will see polar bears evolving in their natural habitat before celebrating her 75th birthday, the next month, in November.
Premonition? Madness? Caprice? Awareness of the ecological threat? Anyway, she calls me … This person is my mother and anyone who knows her as well as I, knows that when she has decided on something, it is difficult to make her change her mind. Read More >

On March 7th, 2017 my husband and I departed for a 3 week adventure tour to Cambodia and Vietnam. Once again Martha from Great Canadian Travel did an amazing job of providing us with advice, ideas and reputable small group tour companies to consider. She provided support on the flights we choose, visas and answered a whole host of other questions we had.

African Safari in Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa
My partner and I travelled to Africa for 6 weeks with the help of Great Canadian Travel and particularly Arnie Hydamaka. This man customized a tour for us that was beyond our wildest African dreams!
We gave Arnie a list of places and dreams that we had, and he proceeded with the arrangements to make them come true. Easily and effortlessly we travelled through Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and the southern portion of South Africa.

Eating My Vegetarian Way Around Ireland –
Irish food always raises visions of Irish stew with lamb, beef and Guinness stew, corned beef and cabbage, blood pudding, breakfast sausages, and, of course, potatoes. As a vegetarian, what would I eat other than potatoes and soggy vegetables? As a precaution, I packed a bag of energy and protein bars. I returned with it unopened.

Where in the World is Albania? Cycling in a Little Known Country of Mystery –
When informed that I was going cycling in Albania, most asked where, or even what, Albania was. It’s a small nation with a complex, diverse, and difficult history, Albania is north of Greece and south of Croatia/Montenegro on the Adriatic coast. The Great Canadian Travel Group helped book our trip to this fascinating, rarely seen country.
