About Karen
After two years of university, I realized I was not suited to my first choice of career. During my year off, I idly started browsing through my cousin's college catalogue. When I saw the Travel & Tourism course, I knew it was for me. I love travel and helping clients plan their trips.
How I travel
I love all types of travel, but I usually prefer exploring independently with lots of time to focus on a destination in depth. I book hotels in advance and have a list of my must-dos, but my favourite part of travelling is discovering surprises and experiences I wouldn't have found if I had planned every last detail in advance.

What I love most
What makes travel meaningful to me is meeting people, trying different food, and experiencing things that I can't at home. The purpose of travel isn't the same for everyone, and I love creating trips for clients that meet their idea of a dream trip.
Places I've been
A memorable journey — Quebec, 2015
I've had many memorable journeys, such as Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, hiking in the Andes before visiting Machu Picchu, and scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef.
One of the most memorable was riding a flying bicycle at Vélovolant in rural Quebec. I am not good with heights, and at one point I was so scared that I almost blew the emergency whistle to be rescued. I managed to overcome my fear and eventually relaxed enough to enjoy the view and the peacefulness.
What I learned: sometimes I need to get out of my comfort zone, or I will miss out on wonderful experiences.
