Wheels up in Winnipeg at 2:45pm, down in Toronto long enough to have some dinner, then 4 hours and 50 minutes later we landed at Keflavik International Airport in Iceland. With black lava fields all around it felt a bit like I think it might feel to land on the moon!
After passing through the most efficient passport control I have ever seen we claimed our luggage, looked in the Duty Free store in the baggage claim area (you can shop Duty Free both on arrival and departure in Iceland, handy for picking up snack food and drinks for your stay) and then went out of the terminal to our waiting bus. After a 15 minute ride we arrived at the famous Blue Lagoon for our spa morning.
Soaking in the silica rich, azure water was so relaxing. We used the silica mud for self-applied facial masks and our skin felt baby smooth afterwards. You can also book professional spa treatments such as mud baths and in-water massages of various lengths.
