Our first adventure travel to Argentina and Chile was an amazing experience! A huge thanks goes to Great Canadian Travel who talked to us about what we were looking for and recommended our tour. We booked the small group 14 day tour through Great Canadian Travel who ensured everything was completely trouble free. Starting in Buenos Aires, we then travelled to the amazing Iguaza Falls where we met up with the group we’d spent the next 2 weeks with. Returning to Buenos Aires we learned about the history of this bustling city with a local tour guide, who was extremely outgoing and very knowledgeable and passionate about his city and country. Next stop was Bariloche where we explored the spectacular Nahual Huapi National Park. The amazing sites and vistas were soon to become daily events on this adventure. The Andes Lake Crossing from Bariloche to Puerto Varas will not be easily forgotten as we transferred back and forth between boats and buses 3 times! As we continued to Torres del Paine National Park (in Chile now) & the group continued to get to know each other, and we learned most had travelled all over the world and had fascinating stories to share! The sunrise picture (with the boat) was right outside our eco lodge just outside Torres del Paine National Park, breathtaking!
At each point we were met by a local tour guide who talked to us about the local sites, the history of the area and answered our many questions. Next we travelled to El Calafate and the Parque Nacional Los Glaciares where we saw our first glacier, Perito Moreno. Bright sunny weather and clear skis seemed to be following us around, even though it was nearing the end of the summer but for an avid photographer, I couldn’t have been more thrilled. It was indescribable to be up close to the Upsala Glacier the next day and see huge ice floes in the middle of Lago Argentino. Our final stop was at the ‘bottom of the world’, Ushuaia where we sailed the Beagle channel and saw penguins and sea lions.
Throughout the trip our tour host handled our hotel check ins, transfers, airport boarding document, tips and gratuities and often even ordered our dinner! All we had to do was sit back and enjoy and that is exactly what we did. It was an amazing two weeks and as this was our first ‘adventure tour’ a very ‘high bar of excellence’ was set for our adventure travels to come. Thank you to our tour company and Great Canadian Travel for making this such a memorable trip for Murray and I.
