In December, Martha helped us book our adventure to Morocco and Spain for the months of February-March.
We did a 15-day G Adventures tour to Morocco called Highlights of Morocco. True to its name, we had the opportunity to see the exciting highlights of what the country has to offer.
We landed in Casablanca, and joined our tour group which started our travels with a quick tour in the port of Tangier. Our journey then lead us through many cities and towns in the central part of the country. With many breathtaking sights along the way, the city of Chefchaouen, also known as the Blue City, was one of our favourites. We experienced a traditional Moroccan Hammam before we began out trek through to the desert on a camel to an overnight camp in the Sahara desert. It was amazing to watch the sunset over the sand dunes and sleep under the stars, bundled up in blankets. We then continued travelling in our private bus through to the High Atlas Mountains before continuing to Essaouira on the coast back to Marrakech. How diverse to walk through the desert and snow covered mountains in the same day.
Moroccan cuisine was unique in its own – from the delicious lamb tajines, vegetable couscous, and the seasoned olives at every turn. The aromatic spice markets were a highlight all of their own.
The Moroccan culture is so unique with much to learn and experience that we would recommend it to anyone. No matter what your sense of adventure, there is something for everyone to enjoy, especially the Moroccan mint tea.
After we left Morocco we flew to Madrid and travelled independently for 8 days through Spain. Experiencing Spanish culture and cuisine was also exciting, while noticing some Moroccan influence in the architecture. Malaga and Granada offered a relaxed but youthful vibe. Churros and chocolate were a sought-after delicacy during our travels, and boy did Spain deliver! Barcelona was rich with history, from Antoni Gaudi buildings to the Magic Fountains and the Castell de Montjuic.
The shopping through both countries was fun, from markets to boutiques, there was always a treasure to be found.
We arrived home safe and happy from our adventures. Everything went smoothly during our travels, and we were very thankful to Martha for arranging all the air and rail ticketing to our pre-booked hotels. We would definitely consult and book another trip with Martha in the future. Thank you for helping us create lasting memories.
